Expert Talk on “IPR Basics for Innovation and Entrepreneurs” Organized at MGIT

The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), organized an Expert Talk on 30th January 2026.

The session was delivered by Dr. C. V. Siva Rama Prasad, Associate Professor, Malla Reddy University, on the topic “IPR Basics for Innovation and Entrepreneurs.”

During the talk, the speaker emphasized the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for UG and PG engineering students in protecting and valuing their innovative ideas. He explained key concepts related to patents, copyrights, trademarks, and design rights, highlighting how these mechanisms prevent unauthorized copying and enable legal ownership, publication, and commercialization of innovations.

Dr. Siva Rama Prasad also stressed that IPR awareness encourages students to move beyond academic projects and prototypes, enabling them to transform technical solutions into startups, products, and meaningful research outcomes. The session provided practical insights into how innovation combined with IPR knowledge can contribute to entrepreneurship and industry relevance.
